Breakfast at the Ole Cafe

ole cafeFor about 20 years, several of my friends and I have had breakfast at the Ole Store on Thursday morning. We were delighted to learn that under a new name (Ole Café), new landlord (Lavern Rippley), and new management (Angie Perez), this wonderful neighborhood attraction is back in business. So, we gathered there yesterday morning for a great cup of coffee and goodies, not to mention lots of conversation. There was a steady flow of customers - I saw some people for the first time in years. Wonder where they've been having breakfast!

The kitchen was off limits to the photographer, but staff was setting up the counter for the lunch menu. Later, I expect they will outfit the bar which is tucked back in the east room. Mrs. Lien's rosemaling has been replaced with a warm, southwest feel, but the tin ceiling is still there.

I look forward to trying the Build-Your-Own-Pasta soon!

Welcome back, neighbor!

Mmmm ... dessert ...

Thanks for the peek inside, Jane. I'll have to get down there soon to try one of those treats ...

Cinnamon rolls are top notch

My daughter and I decided that their cinnamon rolls are the best we've ever had.

excellent lunch

I had an excellent lunch there on Friday (Greek Salad and Split Pea Soup). Seemed to be very fresh ingredients and the quality of all of the food there looked quite high.

While I miss the "dinner" ambience of the last incarnation of the Ole Store, this model is really great and I have high hopes for its success!
