Erica Zweifel to run for Northfield City Council Third Ward Seat

Erica Zweifel is announcing her intention to file for Northfield’s Third Ward City Council Seat.  Her campaign will focus on building a strong community citywide and issues unique to the third ward.  “I love living in the third ward but there are some challenges to living on the west side of town that I would like to see addressed, such as improving the walkability of the ward and safe crossings for Highway 3 so that west side residents can more easily access downtown businesses by bike or by foot”.

Erica and her husband Stephan have lived in Northfield for seventeen years.  They have one child who is a third grader at Greenvale Park Elementary School.  Erica lives, works, gardens and volunteers in Northfield’s third ward.  Mrs. Zweifel is an employee of St. Olaf College.  She is a member of the Greenvale Community Garden and has been volunteering at Greenvale Park Elementary School for the past three years, teaching challenge math.  On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, you can find her at the Northfield Senior Center teaching water aerobics.

Erica Zweifel is currently serving a term on Northfield’s Environmental Quality Commission.  “I have learned a great deal serving on this commission, including the opportunity to review a draft of the new comprehensive plan.  I am excited about putting the new ideas in the plan to work and moving Northfield toward a more sustainable community”.
