Northfield Health Care Reform Gathering
The Northfield Health Care Reform Group will have a gathering at the Northfield Public Library from 7–9 p.m. on July 29, 2008. This group is made up of concerned citizens interested in furthering change in the way health care functions in the United States. Health care is a central issue in our country. It affects not only the economy as well as every part of our state and country. Careful study shows that it takes funding away from many other issues and services such as education, environment, and job creation.
Dr. Jim Hart, from the University of Minnesota School of Public Health is the featured speaker. His presentation will deal with three important topics:
- How did we get into this mess?
- Why does health care cost so much in the U. S.? and
- How can we fix this mess?
During the two hour gathering, we will view Charlie Rose’s interview with T. R. Reid who created the PBS Frontline program “Sick around the World”. There will be time for discussion on health care, and how the Northfield Community can be a part of helping reform health care.
On the national, state, and local scene, health care is a major issue. This July 29 meeting is a beginning opportunity to increase awareness of the health care issues, explore solutions, and further actions to achieve affordable health care for all.

One of the things that is holding progress back is the maniacal way companies bill the health insurance companies.
no one seems to know what is going on, until after several attempts someone comes and gives you misinformation, purposely misleading answers, or everyone is new and went on vacation suddenly.
