Phllis Clifford-Albers

Phyllis Clifford- Albers, age 87, of Northfield, died on Saturday, June 21, 2008 at her home.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at the First United Church of Christ (Congregational) in Northfield 300 Union St. Northfield, with the Reverend Sandra Johnson, officiating. Interment will take place in the Oaklawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the Bierman Funeral Home 1316. South Division St. Northfield on Monday, June 23, 2008 from 4 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Phyllis Mae Grisim, the daughter of Russell F. and Jessie Bell (Thompson) Grisim was born on July 18, 1920 in Northfield. Phyllis attended country school and graduated from Northfield High School in 1937. In 1938, Phyllis worked for Tri-State Telephone Company, until 1940. She was united in marriage to Edwin J. Clifford on September 20, 1940 at the Congregational Church in Northfield. Phyllis and Edwin farmed east of Northfield after their marriage until 1955 when they bought a farm west of West Concord. They moved back to Northfield in December 1968. On August 15, 1969, Edwin Clifford passed away. After Edwin’s death, Phyllis worked at Permans from 1969 until1986. On January 15, 1986, she married Howard Albers. She and Howard made their home in Northfield, and wintered in Mesa, Arizona for 12 years. They enjoyed traveling, including a trip to Norway. Howard passed away on March 22, 2000.

Phyllis hobbies included visiting with people, gardening and playing cards at the senior center.

She is survived by three sons, Bill Clifford of Northfield, Dick and his wife Melanie of Maple Grove, and Jerry of Edina; six grandchildren, Shari Wadleigh, Keith Clifford, David Clifford, Ronald Clifford, Keely Johnson and Michael Clifford; 13 great granddaughters; two brothers, Russell and Kenneth Grisim both of Northfield; and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands, her parents, sister, Audrey Allen; brother, Robert Grisim.
