Did you know that less people give blood during the summer? What with all of our vacations, plus summer activity schedules to keep track of, blood donation tends to take a dip during the warm months. But the amount of blood needed does not go down.

Luckily, there will be a convenient blood drive at Just Food Co-op, 516 Water St. S. next Tuesday, June 24, from 1-6 p.m! But you’ve got to call 650-0106 or stop in at Just Food and make an appointment for one of the time slots available (every 15 minutes between 1 p.m. and 5:45 p.m.) so that you don’t have to wait in line the day of the drive. Give us a call today, and help save a life this summer.

ArtOrg right next to Spoonbridge and Cherry

The ArtOrg project called the "1000 Print Summer" kicks off this Saturday at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis. The big project travels to over one-dozen regional art centers and festivals over the course of this summer. During each event, a small steamroller is used to roll over inked-up blocks to make prints for kids (and even some adults). The kids create their own printing blocks, the blocks are inked up, placed in front of the steamroller, covered with paper and roller over to make the print. The hours of this event are 10am to 3pm on Saturday, July 5--we will be set up in the middle of the Walker Sculpture Park, and right next to the famous spoon and cherry! Check for more details here at the Walker website.

Summer Adventure Girls is a program for 4th-6th grade girls. We meet in the meeting room of the Norfield Library every Wednesday from 4-5pm and all take turns reading aloud for the hour. We choose books with strong female characters and provide them for the girls each week. Once we finish a book we have a fun activity or event (often times requiring permission slips from partents). Everyone is welcome to join us at anytime of the program.

The program starts June 25th and will go through the August 20th and will most likely pick up again in mid September. Our first book will be Caddie Woodlawn by Carol Ryrie Brink.

Start: 12:15 pm

Bob & GailSince 1980 Bob and Gail have traveled the country together taking old time music to audiences of all ages at festivals, fairs, concerts, dances, schools, libraries, music camps, radio and TV programs. This is rural music as played in homes, at dances and for earlier entertainments such as minstrel shows and country radio. Along with a repertoire including dance tunes, ballads, cowboy songs, humorous and sentimental numbers, blues and rags, they spice their shows with stories, history and folklore. They both sing (Bob yodels, too) and play fiddle, banjo, guitar and harmonica.
