Men’s “edutainment” event set
It’s a free educational and entertainment event in Northfield! It will be held on Friday, February 1, 2008 from 5-9 pm at the Community Resource Bank on Hwy 3 in Northfield. This event is called the ManZone and it is for men—and the women who love them.
The education part of the edutainment event, hosted by the Community Resource Bank, will include health screenings and information about heart health, prostate health, spinal health, dental health, sexual health, financial health, smoking cessation, sleep apnea, bulging waistlines and raising healthy boys and much, much more.
There are over 40 businesses participating in this unique event aimed at providing more than a simple health fair for men. The ManZone is an event! It is a Friday night destination for the entire community.
Keynote speaker Barbara Burke, local Northfield author of The Napkin, the Melon and the Monkey, will discuss men's health and wellness as it relates to the workplace. “I am pleased to take part in this event that will hopefully be a springboard for conversations around the conference table and around the dinner table.”
ManZone is designed to address men's "silent health crisis," according to Dr. Pete Haugen of Northfield Chiropractic. "Most men do not go to the doctor unless they are sick," Haugen said, observing from his own healthcare that regular adjustments, health screenings and annual physicals have contributed to his own healthier and more productive life. "These are things I to do for myself and my family and try to encourage my family, friends and patients to do as well."
The entertainment part of the edutainment event known as the ManZone will certainly be a crowd-puller! The ManZone will have free haircuts, free massage, a golf-putting clinic, motorcycles, brand-new 2008 vehicles, organic grass-fed beef grilling all evening from Thousand Hills, 72-hour preparedness training, and thousands of dollars in prizes given out every 15 minutes. There will be many more surprises in store for those who plan the first Friday in February in the ManZone.
