Carol Jean (Sorensen) Johnson was born March 7, 1923, at home in Greenvale Township, Dakota County, Minnesota, to Roscoe and Amie (Petersen) Sorensen. She was baptized and confirmed at East Christiania Lutheran Church and attended several area country schools. After her education she worked as a nanny for 3 families in the area. She married Floyd E. Johnson on September 2, 1941, at East Christiania Lutheran Church. After marriage they farmed with Floyd’s family in the Little Chicago area. In the late 1940's they moved to their longtime home in Little Chicago. Carol and Floyd were foster parents to several children. Carol worked as a nursing assistant at the Northfield Care Center for over 20 years, retiring in 1990. Floyd passed away on May 21, 1997, and Carol remained at home until recently moving to the Northfield Manor.

Since 1941, Carol has been an active member of Trondhjem Lutheran Church in Lonsdale. At Trondhjem she was involved in WELCA, Bible study, as a card sender for the Good Cheer Committee, and she was known and loved for her hospitality and generousity. She was also a committee member of the Trondhjem Community Preservation Society. She enjoyed birds, flowers, music, knitting, crocheting and baking. She was kind, gentle, caring, modest, and a woman of faith who lived it. She loved her family dearly, and she taught them much about how to live life.

What a beauiful Lady!

And what a beautiful photo or her. I loved Carol very much. We will all miss her and look forward to walking in the Garden with her and Jesus!

Love you all
Steph

Grandpa (Bennie Johnson)

Grandpa (Bennie Johnson) used to take me to Carol and Floyd's home when I was little to see "all the action" of a busy, happy home!  I loved watching all the different children coming in and out of this loving place.  Carol had enough love to give everyone and a gentle spirit that let you know she'd take you as part of her group any time.  Blessings to ALL her children, no doubt they will miss her tremendously.    Love, Susan Johnson Sivertson

Carol Johnson

Carol attended our church regularly.  She was just like everyone's grandmother and we at Trondhjem are all going to miss her very much.

Our church has an annual Camp-o-Rama to help send kids to Bible camp.  Every year without fail she would donate loaves of her homemade bread to the auction and that bread would sell for upward of $120.  She made the best bread.

When my family first joined Trondhjem, Carol Johnson was the one who made us feel welcome.  She was one of the main reasons why we chose Trondhjem as our home church.

I just can't imagine what it's going to be like now.  Who is going to step up and fill Carol's shoes?  I know they're too big for most people.  She was just amazing, no doubt about it.

Amanda
