Robert G. Farrell

farrell, robert Robert Gerard Farrell was born April 30, 1933, in Britt, Iowa, to Loren and Irene (Seibert) Farrell. He graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1951. After his education he worked for Western Electric in St. Paul. He married Deanna Kanuit on July 30, 1955. On August 10, 1955, he joined the US Army and served until being honorably discharged on August 9, 1957. In 1960, they moved to their home in Forest Township near Faribault, and Bob worked as an electrician for Crown Cork and Seal in Faribault. In March 1980 Bob and Deanna divorced. In 1985, Bob decided to sell most of his possessions and live life on the road. He traveled back and forth from Minnesota to California every year, stopping to visit and stay near family and friends along the way. In 2002 he moved to Northfield.

Survivors include 5 children and their spouses: Cheryl and Bill Green of Owatonna, Theresa Farrell of Mankato, Jeff Farrell and friend Patti Geene of Faribault, Cindy and Monte Nelson of Northfield, Clarise and Greg Kawell of Faribault; 7 grandchildren: Krysta, Kate, Sara, Amanda, Lindsey, Sammie and Dani; his father Loren of Forest City, Iowa; 3 sisters: Lucille and husband Loren Renze of Esterville, Iowa, Janice Johnson of Hayfield, Iowa, Irene Farrell of Colorado; 2 brothers and their wives: David and Gwen of Olathe, Kansas, Gordon and Carla of Hanford, California; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his mother Irene, his grandson Jacob Kawell, and his brother Loren.

Bob passed away with his family by his side, on Friday morning, October 10, 2008, at the Northfield Care Center, at the age of 75.

A memorial service will be 4:00 P.M. Saturday, October 11, 2008, at the Benson & Langehough Funeral Home in Northfield with Rev. Diane Goulson officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Crystal Lake Cemetery in Crystal Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be from 2-4PM Saturday at the funeral home.
